Engraving

Engraving is a printmaking technique that involves carving or cutting a design into a hard surface, typically a metal plate, wood block, or linoleum, using specialized tools. The carved areas create grooves that hold ink. When the surface is coated with ink and then wiped clean, the ink remains in the grooves. Paper is then pressed onto the inked surface, transferring the design onto the paper through pressure.
